Cross Country, through all the elements

November 7, 2017

As the storm rampaged into New Plymouth on the afternoon of the first cross country home meet on August 30th, two Junior runners from the high school gathered the younger generation of the runners from the middle school and lead them in a team prayer.

The middle school cross country do their warmups back and forth across the football field and finishing stretching before heading to the starting line, but before starting, Juniors Marissa Mullin and Kylie Travis, bring the large group of young competitors in a circle. They wrap their arms around each other’s shoulders and bow their heads to the middle of the group. Marissa starts a simple prayer while the wind and dust continue to blow through the field of the competing teams. The team holds and pull each other closer as their prayer ends and run off with a new confidence to their starting line.

The upcoming cross country team now runs with confidence and will continue to bring the storms.
